Caucuses: Your Voice in the Party

The Democratic Party is built from the ground up, and caucuses are the primary engine of that grassroots power. A caucus is a specialized group within the party composed of members who share a common identity, background, or advocacy focus.

Participating in a caucus gives everyday citizens a direct line to shape party platforms, pass resolutions, and elect leadership at the county and state levels—all the way to the Texas Democratic Convention.

Key Caucuses We Champion Locally

While there are numerous caucuses across Texas, several hit closest to home for our community in Copperas Cove and Coryell County:

• Texas Veterans Caucus: Given our heavy military and veteran population, this caucus ensures that the voices, sacrifices, and specific needs of those who served are centered in policy discussions—from healthcare access to veteran employment and benefits.

• Texas Women's Caucus: Championing reproductive freedom, equal pay, maternal health, and full representation for women across every level of civic life.

• Rural Texans Caucus: Advocating for the unique infrastructure, agricultural, economic, and educational needs of rural and semi-rural communities that are often overlooked by urban-centric politics.

• LGBTQIA+ Caucus: Ensuring that every member of our community—regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity—is treated with dignity, respect, and equality. This caucus fights against discrimination, supports inclusive local policies, and ensures that LGBTQIA+ individuals, families, and youth in Central Texas have a safe, welcoming voice at every level of the party and public life. 

• Labor & Working Families: Standing up for workers' rights, safe working conditions, fair wages, and the dignity of blue-collar labor across Central Texas.
